January 13, 2005:
6:30 - 8:30 PM • Maine Veterans Home

Attendees:
Cathy Fitzgerald, Don Littlefield, Jim Eaton, Lee Jones, Brian Hazlewood, Lloyd Snyder, Greg Berry, Sam Cushing, Heidi Leinonen, Julie Dickman

Treasurer Report:
Lloyd presented the current budget, cash balance, and estimates of upcoming events.
Subsidizing scouting events: After discussion the group agreed the pack would pay for food for Funpack Weekend and Webelo Woods overnight.
Group also agreed to donate $250 annually (budget permitting) to the church from whom we borrow space. It was suggested that the donation be given some time close to Scout Sunday.
Reminder that annual fees are due. Names of families who have not yet paid were given to den leaders.

Overnight Trip:

Plans for the trip to Battleship Cove are set.

Jim will hold an informal meeting as the trip date gets closer, if needed.
Information about trip details will be available at both the April and May Pack meetings.
Balance of payment needs to be turned in by parents who have not yet done so.

Blood Drive:
Pack 47’s blood drive will be Saturday, February 12, from 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM, at Saint Nicholas Church on Route 1.
Posters were handed out to advertise the blood drive.
Sign-up sheets need to be returned by January 26 to Cathy Fitzgerald.
There will be a movie ticket prize for the boy who brings in the most donors.
There will be no rain/snow date.

Blue & Gold Banquet:
Last planning meeting takes place January 16 to finalize plans.
Heidi will provide a projector for the slideshow that Jim Hall will be creating. Anyone with scout pictures, please get them to Jim.
Lots of setup help needed at 4:00 PM when we can get access to the cafeteria.
Clean up plan is for everybody to clean up their own space. Custodian puts away tables and cleans floors.
Theme is a birthday party. Night will include pizza, drinks, cakes made by dens, posters, face painting (by Girl Scouts), moon bounce, popcorn, and Dana and Brandon from Gym Dandies will perform.
Opening by Den 11, closing by Den 8, and sharing by Den 11.
Pins will be distributed for parents.

Pinewood Derby:
Discussion of prize for all boys took place. Decision was to get each boy a chocolate race car instead of a trophy like last year. There will still be trophies for place 1st - 8th place and specialties (best design, etc.). Patches will also be handed out.
Martha Davoli will coordinate food table. We will have Don’s popcorn machine and Chrissy will sell hot dogs. Soda, juice and baked goods were available last year.
Sam will have the scale at Ace Hardware at Oak Hill, so kids can check the weight of their cars.
Mark Delisle and Peter Yerxa will check that cars meet specs.

Raingutter Regatta:
Raingutter Regatta will take place on June 4.
A committee needs to be set up.
It is a very short event. Some concessions will be available, but no cooked food will be arranged for this year due to low interest last year.
Lloyd will coordinate winners. 1st - 3rd place trophies will be given for each rank.

Friends Of Scouting:
Each year parents are given an opportunity to further support scouting by donating to the Friends of Scouting (FOS). Donation forms are handed out during a pack meeting.
This money goes to purchase equipment for Scouts to use on outings. A percentage is also returned to each pack for the purpose of supporting programs and purchasing awards.
Pack 47 will match parents' contributions up to $250.00.

Old Business:
A decision was made to contribute $250.00 to the Scout capital campaign.
The capital campaign will support the construction or a new Pine Tree Council building.
Council has made a request of all Packs for donations.

New Business:
Cathy shared information about a new patch program as well as the 75th Anniversary patch.
