November 11, 2004:
6:30 - 8:30 PM • Maine Veterans Home

Attendees:
Cathy Fitzgerald, Heidi Leinonen, Brian Hazelwood, Jim Eaton, Eric Gleysteen, Beth Darling, Diane Vafiades, Donald Littlefield, Lloyd Snyder, Sam Cushing

New Business:
Sam Cushing completed the Wood Badge Requirements. A Scout Representative will be coming to the December Pack meeting to present this to Sam.

Treasurer Report From Lloyd Snyder:
We currently have a positive balance of about $5,000.00.

Membership Numbers:
The Pack membership is up to about sixty-five boys.

Scouting For Food:
The amount of food collected was down from last year.
It was suggested that we hold another food drive in June. People give generously around the holidays, and it might be helpful to Scarborough food bank to collect again in June.
Further discussion will continue.

Wreath Sales:
It looks like sales were good (about the same as last year).
Gross estimate this year is about $4,800.00.
They will be delivered on November 27.

Popcorn Update:
We sold a bit less and without the Sams match we net approximately $600.00 less than last year.
It is suggested that next year's show and deliver offer two types of popcorn. Individual sales can offer the full variety.
Den leaders can pick up popcorn and prizes for all the boys' sales in their den on Saturday, November 13.
Pick up will be at Don's True Value Hardware Store in Westbrook anytime between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM.
All unsold popcorn from show and sells should be turned in if it has not yet.
Leaders will make arrangements to get popcorn to boys for distribution.

Overnight Trip:
This will be taking place on June 11 at Battleship Cove.
Sixty-five spots have been reserved and paid for.
Info on the location can be found at www.battleshipcove.org.

Leaf Raking:
Forty-six boys from our pack attended to rake leaves along with six boys from Pack 39.
Thanks to everyone who turned out, brought refreshments, worked hard and had fun. This was the biggest turnout yet.

Next Parent Meeting:
Thursday, October 14, 6:30 PM, at the Maine Veterans Home in Scarborough.

Blood Drive:
Tentatively scheduled for February 12. Waiting for the church to give final approval for the date.
Boys will help during the day giving snacks out.

Blue & Gold Banquet:
Currently a committee of five is working on the plans.
It will take place at Wentworth school on February 5. Set up will start at 4:00 PM, banquet starts at 5:30 PM, wrap up at 7:30 PM and cleanup till 8:00 PM.
Because this year is the 75th Anniversary of Scouting, a theme being considered is a Birthday Party.
It is a celebration that includes parents and siblings as well as scouts.
Cathy will coordinate with the committee and have a proposal for the budget, food, entertainment, etc. at the December parent meeting.

Scout Sunday:
February 6 is Scout Sunday. Boys in the past have attended religious services wearing their uniform.

Friends Of Scouting (FOS):
Each year Friends of Scouting gives parents an opportunity to make donations to support various scout programs.
At the January and February Pack meetings a parent will talk about how FOS helps our programs and how scouting benefits us all.
Sam Cushing, Leader of Den 3 will present in January.
We will be setting a goal for the amount of donations that our Pack will contribute to FOS.

Awards To Be Presented At The December Pack Meeting:
Please contact Jim Hall with the awards earned by each boy in your den by November 24.

December Pack Meeting/Dessert Silent Auction Benefit:
Dens 1 and 8 will work together to do the opening. Den 15 will do a skit.
Awards will be presented.
We will have a dessert silent auction to benefit Project Grace. Each boy/parent pair is asked to bring a homemade dessert that will be bid on during the silent auction.
The auction will be open to the public and begin at 7:00 PM. At 7:20 PM (or so) bids will close and winners will be announced. Winners of Tiger den desserts will be announced first.
This event will be publicized in the paper.

Pinewood Derby:
Lloyd Snyder and Don Littlefield volunteered to help again this year. Eric Gleysteen also volunteered. More help will be asked for at upcoming meetings.
The Pinewood Derby rules will be reviewed at the January Pack meeting.
