September 16, 2004:
6:30 - 8:30 PM • Maine Veterans Home

Attendees:
Martha Davoli, Donald Littlefield, Brian Hazelwood, Heidi Leinonen, Cathy Fitzgerald, Beth Darling, Krista Cushing, Greg Berry, Jim Hall, Jim Eaton, Lloyd Snyder

Maine Medical Center Blood Donor Program:
Amanda Esposito gave an overview of the donor program and how Pack 47 could host a blood drive. Our role would be getting people to sign up to give on a specified date, providing a location, and running the canteen.
The Donor Program sets up and takes down their own equipment. The scouts could recruit adults to give blood, hand out flyers, greet donors, run the canteen, give t-shirts to donors, check donor’s names, and learn about why hospitals need blood for their patients.
St. Nicholas was discussed as a possible location for a weekend blood drive.

All Out For Scouting:
Three new Tigers joined Pack 47 at this event.
After discussion of the feeling of competitiveness with Pack 39, it was decided to explore how to hold this event differently next year.
Heidi will host an ice cream social at her home for all new scouts and any boys thinking about joining. Several parents volunteered to help at the event on September 19.

Wreath Sale Update:
The sale will be the same as last year: $16 per wreath, with a choice of blue, red, or maroon bows.
Orders are to be complete by November 13.
Orders will be ready to pick up on Saturday, November 27. Times, location and participation to follow.

Popcorn Sale Update:
The effort ends October 21.
A number of dens have done or will do Show & Deliver events.
All other popcorn will be delivered November 13.
Pack bucks are offered as an incentive.

November Penny Fair:
Last year’s event was a great success.
Each den will come up with a game for the boys to play.
Cathy Fitzgerald will obtain treats/prizes.

Pack By-Laws:
After discussion, a motion was passed to modify our by-laws to allow volunteers with no sons in the program to participate in all areas except den leader.
Candidates must submit an application and satisfy PTC scrutiny.
Heidi will contact Ken Acker to modify the by-laws.

Awards Committee:
Some of the boys have earned the same belt loop more than once.
Jim Hall will contact den leaders to update the records passed on to him when he took this assignment. He has no information for January - September 2003.

Leaf Raking & Food Drive:
The bags should be distributed at the October 5 pack meeting.
November 6 is the date to turn in food and rake at Hunnewell House.

Next Parent Meeting:
Thursday, October 14, 6:30 PM, at the Maine Veterans Home in Scarborough.
