SummerFest is Scarborough’s yearly event celebrating
our community. Numerous organizations, including Pack 47,
are represented each summer. It's a time for kids of all
ages to get out, catch up with their neighbors, and have
a great time.
This year's SummerFest will be a two day event,
beginning with a road race on Friday night, August 19. The
festivities will continue at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August
20 with Scarborough's First Annual Art Show in the new town
park, where exhibitors will showcase fine artwork and crafts
to the sounds of live musical entertainment. At 4:00 PM
there will be a skateboard performance by Maximum Velocity
Stunt Team at the skateboard park. And at 5:00 PM the Scarborough
High School field will be filled with music and booths for
games, food, and fun. The night will end with a spectacular
display of fireworks rivaling the best of July Fourth!
Pack 47's presence at SummerFest helps raise awareness about
Cub Scouts. It is also a great fundraising event for our
pack. But we need everyone’s help to make it happen.
Last year’s booth, run by Pack 47 members, was a great
success.
The theme for our 2005 booth will be Carnival Games. These
are always a hit with the kids, and will include Milk Bottle
Toss, Bean Bag Toss, Ring Toss, and Velcro Golf. We will
also have a table to sell popcorn. For more details, visit

or at 207-883-1746 to volunteer your time. Each of the game
stations will need an adult and scout volunteer to manage
them. We will also need an adult supervisor for the ticket
table, one for the prize table, and one for the popcorn
table. In addition, we will need help setting up prior to
the event and cleaning up afterward. Just let Greg know
the times you are available, and he will assign you a time
slot.
