Welcome to the website for Pack 47 Cub
Scouts of Scarborough at Black Point Congregational Church.
Our organization is responsible for providing programs and
activities for scouts aged 7-12 years. The boys are taught
in an encouraging environment the essentials of good sportsmanship,
team building, citizenry, and to always do their best. Scouts
of Scarborough will be the leaders of tomorrow, and Pack
47 values their place in the community.
The mission of Scarborough Pack 47 is
to offer the most comprehensive program for each scout in
order to help him reach his individual goals. The events
listed below are examples of how each scout will attempt
to achieve his goal individually, work in collaboration
with the other boys in the pack, and make a positive impression
in the community:
The Blue and Gold Banquet in February
celebrates the scouting program. The boys perform skits,
listen to storytellers, and enjoy a familial dinner. Awards
are presented to boys for skills achieved, and badges are
given for activities completed.
The Pinewood Derby is held in March, for which each
participating boy must make a car, which is raced in competition.
The boys are presented ribbons and badge for participation,
and trophies for the winners.
The Raingutter Regatta in June is an activity the
scouts enjoy participating in. The scout is responsible
for building from a model an original boat to
compete in a daylong event. The event, as with all events
in the scouting program, is open to the community to observe.
Funpack Weekend
in August is a time for the boys of the Scarborough pack
to learn hands-on the requirements for camping and outdoor
activity.
The Pack 47 Cub Scouts are planning various other activities
over the summer, involving the community, such as a booth
at the annual Scarborough
SummerFest, marching in the Memorial Day parade, a scout
day at the Hadlock Field in Portland, family picnics and
more.
